Much of the creative overhead-like art direction, level design, character design, tooling and much more-has already been ‘figured out’, which makes it quicker to build on top of that work compared to creating an entirely new world, characters, and gameplay. Polyarc has since grown to 32 people, and this time around there’s 15 people working full-time directly on Moss: Book II, he said.īeyond having more hands on deck, Stiksma also explained that there’s significant gains in efficiency when working on a sequel compared to a brand new game. The original game, Stiksma said, was developed when the studio was just 15 people total a handful of them were only part-time on Moss, and some weren’t working directly on the game (like HR, finance, and marketing). There’s a few reasons why: for one, the game has a larger dedicated team. When you have all of these things which were done well, it makes for an amazing game, and that game is Moss.Valve Interview Confirms Its VR Ambitions Are Alive and KickingĪnd while Stiksma says that the gameplay will be more of an evolution than a revolution, he confirmed that the game has been in development for two years already, and expects it will have a suitably larger scope than the original. Too many VR titles feel like they're created by devs who don't care to polish them (because they are), but Moss did an amazing job with audio, atmosphere, controls, artwork, gameplay feel, making use of VR, narrative, and voiceover work was all brilliant. Moss is a platinum title which succeeds at how VR games should play and feel. Considering most VR titles are an hour or two, 4 hours is fantastic, especially when you consider those 4 hours you're playing a very well polished game which has brilliant narrations and an epic story. It's about 4 hours if you push through the main story, and then you have another few hours to invest if you want to get all the collectibles for achievements. The only complaints I've seen is that it's short, but I disagree. I made a review for it if anyone's interested. Honestly it's well worth the price in my opinion.
